Joe Hire Hively, age 89, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 7:20 am on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, IN. Born on October 11, 1928 in Noble County, IN, he was the son of Arthur M. Hively and Okla U. (Hire) Hively.
Joe was an avid golfer, and whenever possible, could be found out on the golf course.
He lived most of his life as a Whitley County resident. He graduated from Larwill High School with the Class of 1946 and from a Homestudy course in T.V. Repair. On April 30, 1950, he married Willodene A. Smith at Jefferson Chapel United Methodist Church. He retired from Dana, Fort Wayne, IN in 1982 with 35 years of service and he was the owner of Hively T.V. since 1960.
Survivors include his daughters, Tamara Matthews of White, GA; Tina Hapner of Marietta, GA; son, Terry Hively of Fort Wayne, IN; sister, Louise Gaff of Larwill; 2 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by his parents, wife Willodene Hively, and brother Dale Hively.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday February 9, 2018 at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with memorial calling one hour prior. Burial in Jefferson Chapel (Sand Bank) Cemetery. Visit www.demoneygrimes.com to send a condolence.

Kids, your Dad came to work one time with that grin on his face. He said he'd found a large black snake out back. Then he figured he'd take it over and show the neighbor lady, who was working in the kitchen. The snake by this time was wrapped up along his are and looking quite menacing. Your Dad held it up to display his catch, sending the neighbor screaming while fleeing to safety.
