Betsy R. Thompson, 80, formerly of Albion, IN, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2021 at her home in Columbia City. Born October 20, 1940 in Paulding, OH she was the daughter of Francis and Ruth (Birkhold) Ross.

She graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1959. On April 12, 1963, she married Jack Thompson. She retired after 22 years from Lyall Electric. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Eagles, VFW #4717 of Wolf Lake and Whitley County FOP. As her children were growing up, they all enjoyed spending time at the lakes and going boating. She also enjoyed bowling, euchre, taking road trips and going out and eat.

Betsy is survived by her son, Dennis Thompson; brother, John Ross Sr.; granddaughter, Cassie Elder; great-grandchildren, Corinna, Brandon and Lux Stiles; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, William Thompson in 2019; and sister, Mary Joan Boschet.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Wolf Lake Cemetery with a graveside service at 11 a.m., Wednesday June 16, 2021 with Pastor Matt Converse officiating.
