Carl E. Smith, 79, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away Friday, November 18, 2022 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Born October 3, 1943 in Peru, Indiana, he was the son of Russell and Helen (Martindale) Smith.

He graduated from Chili High School with the Class of 1961 and International Business College in Fort Wayne. His work career included Data Processing Manager at Transport Motor Express in Fort Wayne and he retired in 2008 from General Electric as a Systems Analyst after 25 years. He loved all things sports and being outdoors in his garden, yard, and camping.

On May 15, 1965, he married Annell (Hoover) Smith. From their 57 1/2 years together, came their daughter, Lorinn L. Smith of Fort Wayne; and son, Todd E. (Tina) Smith and their children, grandson, Jared Smith and  granddaughter, Jessica Smith, all of Huntington County. Carl is also survived by his brother, George Smith of Miami County; sister, Ann Dailey of Huntington; brother, Ralph Stout of Lagro; several special nieces and nephews; and his beloved fur babies, CoCo, Star and Zoey. Along with his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his brother, Omer Smith and sister-in-law, Patty Smith.

Per Carl's wishes, there will be no service. A celebration of his life will be held at a later time. Memorial donations may be given in memory to the Humane Society of Whitley County or the donor's choice of organization.
