Cheryl (Green) Lawson

May 11, 1959 — November 12, 2020

Cheryl (Green) Lawson, 61, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2020 in the comfort of her home on Round Lake. Born May 11, 1959 at Whitley Memorial Hospital, she was the daughter of Frederick Keith and Marleen Joyce (Fulk) Green.

She graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1977. Cheryl retired from Dana in Syracuse in 1999 and had worked for Chematics for a brief time helping with anything they needed. She was a member of the Churubusco VFW.

Life forever changed after meeting Dan Burchett in 2016. After meeting for the first time at Susie's, they had their first date on May 18, 2016 at Wings Etc. and the two fell in love with each other. In her free time, Cheryl enjoyed camping, working in her flower beds, going to the casinos, bowling and shooting. She also liked dancing and singing karaoke. Her favorite thing though was to spend time with her family and friends. For the past 20 years Cheryl fought and battled with five different forms of cancer so she could make more memories with her loved ones.

There are not enough words to describe how great Cheryl was. Strong, spontaneous and strong willed were a few of her great characteristics. Cheryl was fun, had a great sense of humor and full of life. She was the best friend, best mother and best grandmother to have! With a very caring nature, she was always there for anyone in need, was never judgmental but would give her honest opinion in a caring way.

Cheryl is survived by her daughters, Ellesha (Andy) Hughes and Kary (Doug Patton) Lawson; step-daughters, Stefanie Lawson and Alethea (Amy) Lawson-Pritchett; grandchildren, Alexis, Isabella, Izaiah, Cameron, Lillyn, Lincoln and Jaxson; fiancée and love of her life, Dan Burchett; brothers, Myron (Minh) Green, Keith Green and Todd (Johneine) Clingerman; sister, Paula (Brian) Johnson; best friend of 40 years, Susan Haines; and a host of other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Curt Clingerman and Steve Green; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Green.

A gathering of family and friends will be 2 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Face masks are required for attendance in accordance with the current Executive Order. Memorial donations may be given in memory to Southern Care Hospice.
