Janet Marie Goldwood, 75, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 10, 2021 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born May 2, 1946 in Janesville, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of Robert and Marie (Welsch) Rutledge.
She graduated from Janesville High School with the Class of 1965. After moving to Columbia City, Janet met Barry Goldwood at the American Legion. After knowing each other for a period of time, a great conversation would change the course of their lives forever. On August 9, 2013, Barry and Janet were married.
In 2013, Janet also retired from Reelcraft after 15 years. She was fun, outgoing, and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Janet enjoyed camping and fishing and found relaxation sitting on her deck overlooking Round Lake. She loved watching birds and watching lake friends enjoying all the activities the lake has to offer. Janet was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary where she was a Past President and was into genealogy.
Janet is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Barry Goldwood; children, Rob Nelson, Monica (Todd) Tedeschi and Paulette (Dennis) Bosmans; step-daughter, Michelle Goldwood; brother, Tom (Julie) Rutledge; sister-in-law, Karen Rutledge; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Aside from her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Paul "Pete" Rutledge and sister, Bobbi Crary.
A memorial Irish wake will begin at 2 pm Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the Columbia City American Legion, 430 W. Business 30, Columbia City, IN 46725.
