Jerry Vandersaul

Jerry S. Vandersaul, age 80, of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 7:22 pm on Saturday January 9, 2021 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.  Born on September 7, 1940 in Kosciusko County, he was the son of Marion and Nellie (Gray)Vandersaul.

Jerry attended Larwill High School and graduated with the Class of 1958.  On June 18, 1958, he married the love of his life, Janice D. Lundy and they then lived north of Larwill.

Jerry farmed and ran a dairy operation, while he worked for 35 years at Dana Corporation, Fort Wayne.  He was a long- time member of Big Lake Church of God, where he served on numerous church committees.  After retirement Jerry lived a very active life.  He played pickleball with family, was an active member of the YMCA, and continued farming for friends.

Survivors include his children Jeff Vandersaul of Churubusco, Jody (Jan) Vandersaul of St. Louis, MO, Janette (Greg) Sauers and Jamie (Tina) Vandersaul, both of Columbia City, and Jerilyn Simpson of Warsaw; grandchildren, Samuel (Carissa), Abigail, Ethan, Eli, and Daniel Vandersaul, Janica (Kevin) Eames, Evan Sauers, Mallory, Garrett, and Maggie Vandersaul, and Connor (Eric) Oscarson; great-grandchildren, Janiah, Kinley, Kohen, and Jagger Eames; siblings, JoAnn (Roger) McCoy and Jim (Louise) Vandersaul, both of Columbia City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Janice Vandersaul, and infant grandson Justin Hammel.

Friends may call from 4-7pm on Thursday January 14, 2021 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. With the current Executive Order, face masks are required for attendance.

Private funeral services for Jerry will be held for his immediate family.

Burial in Eberhard Cemetery, Columbia City.
