Joel D. Pettigrew

Joel David Pettigrew, age 45, of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 11:15 pm on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at his residence. Born July 30, 1975 in Columbia City, he was the son of James A. Pettigrew and Jenny (Zumbrun ) Pettigrew.               .

He attended Columbia City High School he graduated with the Class of 1994. Joel worked as a jack of all trades in construction and also helped out on the family farm. He was a member of Carpenter’s Local 232 and volunteered for the Arcola Fire Department for several years. Joel loved to fish and go mushroom and deer hunting in his free time.

Survivors include his son Taylor Pettigrew; parents James and Jenny Pettigrew; granddaughter, Lucille Pettigrew; brothers, Jeffery Pettigrew, Jason (Teri) Pettigrew, Jerrold  (Amy) Pettigrew, and Jonathon (Tara) Pettigrew; several nieces and nephews, all of Columbia City. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.

Friends may call on Thursday July 1, 2021, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.

Funeral services for Joel will be held at 10:00 am on Friday July 2, 2021, at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Union Township Cemetery, Coesse.

Memorial donations may be given in memory to Parkview Whitley Home Health Care and Hospice or Arcola Fire Dept.
