Judith Kay Hudson

August 8, 1944 — November 9, 2020

Shy, reserved, and not wanting to stand out in a crowd are just a few ways to describe Judy Hudson.  A few pieces of history that occurred in 1944 include President Franklin Roosevelt being elected to his fourth term, Benjamin Green inventing sunscreen for soldiers, later founding the Coppertone Company, and on August 8 1944, the welcoming of Judith Kay Bradbury the oldest of two children born to Jay and Elleen (Jones) Bradbury in Ossian, Indiana. Judy loved her younger sister very much and was very close to her.

Judith graduated from high school with the Class of 1962. On June 14, 1964 Judith married Dennis Hudson in Fort Wayne.  She was a homemaker and member of Saturn Christian Church. Judy and Dennis met on a blind date and were married in 1964 at just 19 years old!  They had the first of their two children at age 20 and were married nearly 55 years.

She devoted her life to caring for her daughter Lori.  She was a great mother that would go without before ever thinking of herself. Jill always felt she learned how to be a mom from the best example.

Judy’s great cooking and her famous Marzetti, 7 layer salad and spinach dip were some of our family's favorite things that will be missed.  Jill could just never get it to taste quite like her mom’s even when her top secrets were disclosed!

The Hudson family traveled to the Great Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg, Tennessee every year.  Judy and Dennis once took an adventurous trip out West, just the two of them, while grandma and grandpa watched Lori and Jill. Wyoming was their favorite state and that time together was treasured.

Judy and Dennis often ran together, but when the whole family went they brought out the tandem bike so that Lori was also able to go.  Judy loved Denny's custom-made bike, however she didn’t like the hot rod trucks or tractors he built because they were simply too fast. She could be heard squealing for miles down the road.

Judy and Dennis enjoyed recording soap operas on VHS tapes before finally getting the hang of the DVR.  They often watched them in the evening, but Dennis got mad if Judy watched them before he did.  Judy also loved watching I.U. Basketball and would plan events around tip off so that she'd be home.  She belonged to the organization MADD.  Dennis would frequently tease her saying he belonged to DAMM.  She will always be remembered in the hearts of those that loved and knew her so well.
