David P. Rider

David P. Rider, 65, of New Orleans, La., passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017. Born January 15, 1952 in North Webster, he was the son of Arden and Esther (Martin) Rider.

He attended Wawasee High School, earned a bachelor degree from Indiana University in South Bend, and received his PhD from the University of Kansas. After completing a postdoctoral program at the University of Chicago, he taught at the University of Hawaii (Hilo), the University of Montana in Missoula, Louisiana State University, and Xavier University of Louisiana, retiring in 2008. On May 23, 1990, he married Nora N. Kametani

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Nora Kametani; parents, Arden and Esther Rider, of Warren; children, Justin D. Rider, Kathleen (Michael) Rider Parks of Seattle, WA, Aaron M. Rider, Michaela I. Kametani-Rider, Cheyenne M. Kametani; sister, Cheryl A. Rider of Tucson, AZ. He was preceded in death by his brother, Aaron C. Rider.
