Carolyn J. Burrey

Carolyn J. Burrey, age 89 of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 12:13 pm on Thursday January 4, 2024, at Stillwater Hospice, Fort Wayne.  Born on May 25, 1934, in Whitley County, she was the daughter of Everette and Lucille (Hively) Egolf.

Carolyn attended Columbia City High School and graduated with the Class of 1952.  She worked for Magnavox Corporation and for Alcoils, Inc., Columbia City.  Carolyn also co-founded Car-Le Morgans, where she raised, bred, showed Morgan Horses, and ran a full-service tack shop.  She was a member of American Morgan Horse Association. Carolyn loved dogs and enjoyed gardening in her free time.

Survivors include her daughter Sherry (Wally DuMont) Morgan; granddaughters Jennifer (Tony) Watson and Erin (Zachary) Lord; great-grandchildren Lylla and Grayson; one stepdaughter; two stepsons; one step-grandson; two step-granddaughters; two step-great-grandchildren; sister Pam (Don) Endsley; nieces Tracy (Brian) Nall, Trisha (Mike) Gonzales, and Tammy (Rick) Popp.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leon Burrey, brothers Rodger Egolf and Ronald Egolf, and sister-in-law Phyllis Egolf.

A private family service will be held for Carolyn.
