JUDY J. ALVORD

Judy J. Alvord, age 67, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 10:10 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Parkview Oaks, Columbia City, IN.Born on January 17, 1947 in Allen Co., she was the daughter of Lewis R. and Betty L. (Gaylord) Miller.

She has been a Whitley County resident most of her life, except for 10 years when she and her husband lived in Tampa, Florida.She graduated from Columbia City Joint High School, Class of 1965, then attended Warner Beauty College, Fort Wayne. On January 11, 1974, she married Sam J. Alvord at Monticeia Presbyterian Church Tampa, Florida.She worked at Magnavox for 15 years in Columbia City, Auburn Gear for 3 years, and then a hairstylist in Columbia City for over 25 years.

Survivors include her sons, Cory A. (Melissa) Alvord of Butler; Glenn L. (Michelle) Alvord of Columbia City; IN; 3 grandchildren Klarrissa, Klayton, and Austin Alvord.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Sam J. Alvord on April 4, 2005 and brother, Richard E. Miller.

Visitation will be held on Sunday,February 16, 2014 from 2-7 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 17, 2014 at the funeral home with Certified Funeral Celebrant Sharon Brockhaus officiating. Burial will follow at Nolt Cemetery.Memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Alvord's memory to American Cancer Society.
