A devoted husband, son, father, and grandfather, who put others before himself, and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting are just a few ways to describe Dean Lott. A few historical events that occurred in 1967 include the first Rolling Stone Magazine publication, NASA launched the Lunar Orbiter 3 Space Craft, The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) was created, and on November 29, 1967 Denny and Patricia (Rice) Lott welcomed the birth of Dean Franklin Lott in Columbia City, Indiana. Dean was the oldest of two children. He was held responsible for and very protective of his younger sibling.
Dean was an extraordinary softball player and considered the heart and soul of the family co-ed team. In 1986, he played a huge role in helping his Whitko High School football team win the state championship in Class 2A. Dean graduated the next year with the Class of 1987. He worked at the Fort Wayne Foundry for 23 years and LSC Communications for 9 years, where he always took great pride in his work.
Several memorable events that highlighted Dean's life were in August of 1989 with the birth of his oldest daughter Chelsey Mae, December of 1993 with the birth of his youngest daughter Taylor Rae, and July 4, 2009 when he married Heidi Marie Kimmel. Dean was also delighted to become a proud papaw in June of 2010 with the birth of Matthew Duane and again in April of 2016 with the birth of Levi Tucker. He loved spending time with his grandsons.
Dean got such great joy from seeing other people harvest a deer or catch a fish and was always open to sharing his expertise to anyone willing to learn. In his free time he could be found watching the Pittsburgh Steelers or sharing a story that included the phrase "can I tell ya something?" or "what is it?" or referring to you as "Pete", "Bud", or "Sis".
Always near and dear in the hearts of those who knew and loved him most, Dean will be perpetually remembered.
