Edward J. Lortie

Edward J. Lortie, age 67, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 7:35 am on Saturday June 16, 2018 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born on March 2, 1951 in Allen County, he was the son of Dallas R. and Donna J. (Hyser) Lortie.
Edward attended New Haven High School before joining the U.S. Army to proudly serve his country. He enjoyed deer and mushroom hunting, gardening, and regularly driving to Walmart. He held several jobs as a plumber, welder, and factory worker. On August 30, 1991 Edward married Carol Hatch in Whitley County, where he has been a resident since 2006.
Survivors include his wife Carol Lortie of Columbia City; children Jennifer Cook Richey of Melbourne, FL, Joshua (Lyn Wolfe) Lortie of Michigan, Jessica (Eric) Beachy of Fort Wayne, and Brian Lortie of Columbia City; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings Dallas Lortie of Albion, Tim Lortie of Prarie Du Chein, Wisconsin, Jamie (Starr) Lortie of McGregor, IA, Annette (Randy) Welling, and Lee (Val) Hein, both of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Peggy and Patty Lortie, brother Donald Lortie, and step daughter Lanaya "Tina" Collier.
Funeral services for Edward will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday June 19, 2018 at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with calling two hours prior to service.
