Everett V. Stayer

Everett Victor Stayer, age 85, of Huntington, IN, passed away at 3:18 am on Friday August 18, 2023, at The Waters of Huntington.  Born on August 13, 1938, in Bracken, IN, he was the son of Ernest and Etha (Druley) Stayer.

Everett attended Sidney High School, where he played basketball, baseball, and track before graduation with the Class of 1958.  On January 25, 1959, he married Dorothy May Elkins in Warsaw.  He worked as an order picker for Dana Corporation, Churubusco for over 30 years until his retirement in 2000.  Everett was a member of the former Gospel Land Church, Columbia City.  He enjoyed model trains, tinkering outside, building wood items, fishing, and riding his Silver Wing motorcycle in his free time.

Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years Dorothy Stayer of Huntington; children Victoria (Lee) Stanley of Osceola and Kevin “Rich” (Linda) Stayer of Huntington; grandchildren Heather Whiteman and Rachael (Bryce) Metcalf; great-grandchildren Liam Whiteman and Lillian Whiteman, all of Osceola.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Margaret Hisle and Sandra Whittlesey, brothers Willis Stayer, Keith Stayer, Verlin Stayer, Harold Stayer, Gerald Stayer, Frank Stayer, and Ernest Stayer, Jr.

Funeral services for Everett will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday August 22, 2023, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside drive, Columbia City, with calling from 11:00 am -1:00 pm prior to service.

Burial will follow in South Whitley Cemetery, South Whitley.
