Gary Ray Archer, age 77, of Columbia City, In, passed away at 4:30 pm on Sunday May 26, 2024, at Miller’s Merry Manor at Oak Pointe. Born on December 27, 1946, in Warsaw, IN, he was the son of Ray and Carol (Leiter) Archer.
Gary attended Pierceton High School and graduated with the Class of 1965. He then proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1965-1968 and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. On September 11, 1971, he married Deborah Freeman in Albion, IN.
Gary worked as a truck driver at Rea Magnet Wire, Fort Wayne, for over 40 years, until his retirement. He was a member of American Legion Post # 258, Pierceton and the National Rifle Association. Gary was an avid reader and also enjoyed collecting die cast model cars in his free time.
Survivors include his wife Deborah Archer of Columbia City; daughter April Archer of Columbia City; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; and his beloved dog Cassie.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Carol Archer.
Funeral services for Gary will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday May 30, 2024, at DeMoney Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with calling two hours prior to service.
Burial will follow in St. Matthew's Cemetery with military honors.
Memorial contributions in memory of Gary may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or Whitley County Humane Society.
