Jack E. Lemon, 82, of Columbia City, Indiana passed away Monday, June 17, 2024, at home with family by his side. Born June 30, 1941, in Kosciusko County, Indiana he was a son of the late Guy Lemon and Willodean (Norris) Lemon White.
He graduated from Larwill High School with the Class of 1959. On May 2, 1959, he married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Metzger. Jack worked for Farmers Grain in Columbia City. In 1966, they moved to the family farm where he and Marilyn raised their kids. Jack retired from Polk Farm Equipment after many years of service. In 2000, Jack and Marilyn moved to their retirement home at Big Cedar Lake.
Jack enjoyed tending to his dairy farm and vegetable garden. He often enlisted the help of his children and grandchildren in these endeavors, using the opportunity to instill the value of patience and hard work. Jack also enjoyed fishing with his sons and brother. His greatest joy was his family.
Jack is survived by his wife, Marilyn Lemon; children, Julie Copeland, Jeff Lemon, John (Tina) Lemon, and Jeanne (Gary) Young; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Thomas (Sharon) Lemon, and Michael (Cindy Parry) Lemon. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Marcus White; brother and sister-in-law, James and Barbara Lemon; son-in-law; Gary Copeland; and great granddaughter, Molly Minear.
Visitation will be 2:00 - 5:00 pm Saturday, June 22, 2024, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Celebration of Life will be 1:00 pm Sunday, June 23, 2024, also at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Adams Cemetery.
