James Lee Duckett

James Lee Duckett, age 63, of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 11:26 am on Thursday March 28, 2024, at his residence.  Born on October 7, 1960, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of James E. and Dorothy H. (Wallace) Duckett.

James attended North Side High School and graduated with the Class of 1979.  He then attended Vincennes University and earned his bachelor's degree.  James later obtained his Roofer’s Journeyman’s Card.

James worked as a materials handler at LKQ, Transmetco Plant, Huntington for the past 8 years.  Prior to that he was a union roofer for over ten years.  James was an avid bass fisherman and bowler.  He also coached kids bowling and was a member of the Huntington Jaycees.

Survivors include his wife Michelle Duckett of Columbia City; son Travis Duckett of Columbia City; grandsons Brody Wheeler and Ryder Duckett.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lee Armstrong and Mike Duckett, and sister-in-law Marge Armstrong.

A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held on Tuesday April 2, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 pm at DeMoney Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.

Memorial contributions in memory of James may be made to Whitley County Humane Society.
