James Leon Fudge

James Leon Fudge, age 78 of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 10:45 am at his residence on Thursday June 22, 2023.  Born on August 10, 1944, in Convoy, OH, he was the son of Milo and Luella (McBride) Fudge.

Leon attended Jefferson Center School.  He worked as general labor at Gobbler’s Retreat, a stockman at Ace Hardware, and then a bagger at Scott’s Grocery.  Leon was a former member of Jefferson Chapel United Methodist Church and was attending Columbia City United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed walking, taking trips, spending time with his family, and just being around other people.

Survivors include his brother Gale “Laverne” (Sharon) Fudge; nephew Scott (Erin) Fudge; nieces Carrie (Jeff) Ebersole and Tracy (Kurt) Davis of Columbia City; 5 great-nephews; 2 great-nieces; and special friend Royca Ryder, all of Columbia City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Kenneth W. Fudge and Lavon D. Fudge, and great-niece Anna Fudge.

Funeral services for Leon will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday June 28, 2023, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, where friends may call from 1:00-3:00 pm prior to service.

Burial will follow in Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco.

Memorial contributions in memory of Leon may be made to Columbia City United Methodist Church Building Fund.
