John Steven Ford

John Steven Ford, 65, of Fort Wayne, passed away at 2:48 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Silver Birch Assisted Living. Born March 19, 1954 in Oakland, California, he was the son of Thaine and Lola J. (Ruckman) Ford.

With his father being a Naval Officer, Steven grew up moving around and would graduate from Pensacola High School in Florida with the Class of 1972. He went on to attend Purdue University in Indiana. With a love for the water and ocean, Steven worked in the offshore oil industry near Galveston, Texas before moving back to Indiana. For over 25 years, he worked in the newscast department for News Channel 21 in Fort Wayne. Steven enjoyed photography and playing the drums. His favorite place to visit was Cape May, New Jersey.

Survivors include his loving mother, Lola Ford, of Fort Wayne; brothers, Mark (Cathy) Ford, of Columbia City and Philip (Carol) Ford, of Shalimar, Fla.; half-sister, Anne Eddy, of Washington; one niece and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Thaine Ford.

A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 10 to 11 a.m. with a service to follow at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
