Matthew Scott McKinney

Matthew Scott McKinney, age 37 of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away at 7:30 am on Monday April 1, 2024, at Tranquility Nursing and Rehab, Indianapolis.  Born on November 15, 1986, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Kent and Laurie (Bullard) McKinney.

Matt attended Homestead High School and graduated with the Class of 2005.  Matt worked as a forklift operator for Avancez Assembly, Roanoke.  He was a member of Northeast Indiana AFL-CIO and UAW Local #2209.  Matt had a passion of caring for all animals big and small.  He also enjoyed martial arts, jiu jitsu, weightlifting, woodworking, and furniture refinishing in his free time.

Survivors include his parents Kent and Laurie McKinney of Fort Wayne; brother Mark (Megan) McKinney of Fort Wayne; grandparents Warren (Sharon) Bullard of Goshen, Dianne Bullard and Betty McKinney, both of Fort Wayne; great-grandmother Berdina Stevens of Fort Wayne.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather George McKinney and great-grandfather Edwin Stevens, Jr.

Funeral services for Matt will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday April 9, 2024, at DeMoney Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, where friends may call two hours prior to service.

Burial will follow in South Park Original Cemetery, Columbia City.

Memorial contributions in memory of Matt may be made to Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control or Riley Children’s Hospital.
