Nila J. Born

Nila J. Born, 58, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away at 10:06 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born June 14, 1960 in Columbia City, she was the daughter of Charles Leckrone and Myrna (Brown) Yancey.

She graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1979. Nila had been a CNA at Miller's Merry Manor and The Oaks following high school. She would go on to retire from Passages after over 20 years of service. Nila had a great sense of humor, a heart of gold, was a caretaker and loved being with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her two sons, Kevin (Christina) Leckrone, of Columbia City and Troy Born, of Columbia City; sisters, Lila Leckrone, Mary (Victor Angulo Jr.) Brown and Debra Brown; five grandsons; and many nieces and nephews and great- nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gregory Leckrone; granddaughter, Crystal Scott; and infant brother, Raymond Brown, Jr.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 2-2:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
