Pamela Loe

Kind, hardworking, and caring were just a few ways to describe Pamela Loe. She had been a loving wife of 49 years, a wonderful sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Anyone who got to know Pam was blessed to have her as part of their life.

With the United States being involved in the Korean War, 1951's technology was advancing as the U.S. designed the Breeder Reactor which converted Uranium to Plutonium and the first commercial computer, UNIVAC, is put into use at the U.S. Census Bureau. In entertainment, movies "The Day the Earth Stood Still", Disney's "Alice in Wonderland" appear in theaters along with the tv series, "I Love Lucy" premiered on CBS. Dennis the Menace comic strip appears in newspapers across the U.S. for the first time and the phrase, Rock N Roll is coined by Cleveland Disc Jockey Alan Freed. The year also marked the births of Phil Collins, Sting and on January 11, Pamela McClure was born at the Lucky Hospital in Wolf Lake, Indiana.

The first-born child of Edward Frank and Patsy Marie (Gray) McClure, Pam was raised with her siblings, Bruce and Linda on Shriner Lake; north of Columbia City. As a child she loved being on the lake and swimming with friends. While attending Columbia City Joint High School, she was involved with he Gold Teens and graduated with the Class of 1969.

Following high school, Pam started her work career with Weatherhead in Columbia City and would go on to retire from Dana in 1999 after 30 years. During her work career she met Steven J. Loe and the two would be married on August 29, 1970 at Columbia City First Church of God. After spending two years being retired, Pam went to work at the Columbia City YMCA in 2001 but due to her health, she retired again in 2016.

She enjoyed traveling with Steve in their car, going to car shows together, camping, trips to Niagara Falls, Gatlinburg, Las Vegas and even made a trip traveling throughout Canada. She found relaxation tending to her flower gardens and liked to decorate. She quilted many blankets over the years for her family and making blankets for her grandchildren.

Unfortunately, Pam's time with Steve on Earth was cut short when he passed away on February 2, 2019. After battling with ovarian cancer over the years, Pam Loe, 68, of Columbia City, passed away at 9:55 p.m. on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Fort Wayne. She was survived by her daughters, Brandie Kreps, of Fort Wayne, Cara (Aaron) Likens, of Wolcottville; grandchildren, Dakota Kreps, Jaegar (Kristina) Kreps, Vincent Likens and Hazel Likens; great-grandchildren, Chance and Paisley and expecting twin great-grandchildren; sister, Linda (Art Miller) Coulter, of Columbia City; and brother, Bruce (Brenda) McClure, of Milford. She also was preceded in death by her parents.

A gathering of family and friends will be 2-6 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2019 at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City. A private family service will be held.
