Peggy M. Mallane

September 19, 1952 — July 5, 2020

Peggy Mallane, 67, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away at 9:55 a.m., Sunday, July 05, 2020 at her home. Born September 19, 1952 in Columbia City, she was the daughter of Dale J. and Gladys E. (Walker) Gamble.

She was on the swim team and school band, graduating Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1970. On September 5, 1971, Peggy married Phillip Mallane III. She attended Purdue University for nursing and earned her Associates Degree and worked over 30 years as a registered nurse at Miller's Merry Manor and Renaissance Village.

She was a talented musician and enjoyed playing on her baby grand piano. She also enjoyed softball, swimming, laying out by the pool and playing euchre with friends. Peggy, Phil and the family took several memorable trips to Hawaii and she and Phil even pulled their camper to tour the country. Mount Rushmore and the balloon festival in Albuquerque, New Mexico were just two of her favorite stops on the trip.  The grandchildren loved the trips to zoo, library or to get ice cream in with her and drive with the top down on her Mustang convertible.

Peggy had a great sense of humor and was a fun lady to be around. She had a caring heart and unconditional love. She lived her life to the fullest and looked forward to bringing smiles to patients she cared for over the years.  Over the years she touched so many lives and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her loving husband of almost 50 years, Phil Mallane; daughters, Shawn Schultis and Dionne Mallane, both of Columbia City; grandchildren, Devin Schultis, Jaden Rice and Micalyn Rice; sisters, Patricia (Mark) LeFkowicz of Arcadia and Gwyn Carpenter of Columbia City; brother, Stanley (Lillian) Gamble of Fort Wayne; her two “wiener dogs”, Myra and Maddie; and two cats, Minnie and Maska. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Steve Gamble.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 pm on September 19, 2020 at the Columbia City VFW Post #5582. Arrangements with DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City.
