Ricky L. Filkins

Ricky L. Filkins, age 60, of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 12:39 pm on Wednesday October 31, 2018, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born on June 23, 1958 in East Liverpool, Ohio, he was the son of James Filkins and Mattie (Merritt) Gotay.

Ricky attended Liberty High School in Liverpool. He then went on to become a boom truck operator for many years. On August 10, 1990 he married Rene Fry in Orlando, Florida. Ricky enjoyed woodworking and was a voracious reader. He also had a great love of science and looking at the stars through his telescope.

Survivors include his wife Rene Filkens of Columbia City; son Nicolas Filkins of Columbia City; mother Maddie Gotay of Cleveland, OH; 2 brothers; 5 sisters. He was preceded in death by his father James and sister Joyce.

In accordance with the wishes of Ricky there will be no calling or services at this time.
