Jean Zorger

P. Jean Zorger, 88, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away at 3:40 pm Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Parkview Whitley Hospital with loving family by her side. Born December 11, 1935 in Whitley County, she was the daughter of Sylvester Sr. and Marietta (Pequignot) Hinen.

A lifelong resident of Whitley County, Jean graduated from Washington Center High School with the Class of 1953. On June 25, 1955, she married Jerry Zorger at St. Catherine's Catholic Church. Along with being a loving wife and mother, Jean was a homemaker and helped out on their family farm on Airport Road. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, recited the Rosary daily and watched Mass daily when she was not able to attend.  Jean loved square dancing, playing euchre with family and friends and was a wonderful baker.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Vicki Wolf and Tam (Scott) Downing-Snyder; sons, Rick (Kathy) Zorger and  Rod (Jenny) Zorger; sister, Dorothy  Ray; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren with two more on the way. Along with her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Zorger on April 19, 2014;sons-in-law, Gary Wolf and Mark Downing; sisters, Helen Johnson and  Linda Kronenburger; and brothers, Robert Hinen and Sylvester Hinen, Jr.

Visitation will be 2 to 8 pm, Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City with a Rosary prayer beginning at 1:45 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be  11 am, Thursday, at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, Columbia City. Burial will take place at Greenhill Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her husband. Memorial donations may be given in her memory to Masses.
