Joseph A. Murphy

Joseph Anthony Murphy, 89, of Columbia City, Indiana,  passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Stillwater Hospice. Born October 9, 1933 in Nauvoo, Illinois, he was the son of Walter and Marie (LaFeber) Murphy.

He served in the U.S. Army and was employed at Navistar for 45 years. Joe was a member of  St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church and he was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Carol Murphy, his daughter Linda Lehman, his grandchildren Nicole Gaedtke, Chris Lehman, Melinda Maley and his great-grandchildren Chloe Maley and Gavin Gaedtke. He was predeceased by his daughter Karen Murphy and mother and father Marie and Walter Murphy.

A gathering of family and friends will be 1 to 3 pm Sunday, April 16, 2023 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive,Columbia City. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Monday at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, 315 S Line St, Columbia City with visitation one hour prior. Father Jose Arroyo will be officiating. Burial will take place at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in memory to St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church.
