Larry L. Watson, 86, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at his home. Born February 2, 1937 in Columbia City, he was the son of David and Effa (Sheets) Watson.
Growing up around Ridinger Lake, Larry graduated from Larwill High School High School with the Class of 1955. On January 11, 1960, he married Zelma Watson in Pierceton, who passed away on September 28, 2022. The two then moved to Fort Wayne. Larry worked for Transport Motor Express as a mechanic until1980. In 1986 he began working for PTC Bus Company where he retired in 2003. He was a member of Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall, Fort Wayne.
Larry's family meant the most to him. He was helpful, knowledgeable, hardworking and handy. He enjoyed working on cars, tinkering around the house, taking walks, swimming, and fishing. He also enjoyed meeting with his friends for a cup of coffee at Richards.
Survivors include his daughters, Belinda Campbell and Tina Watson; daughter-in-law, Cathy Watson; grandsons, Bobby (Kay) Schnelker and Robert Hart; granddaughter Mandi Hart; great-granddaughters, Aria, Aaleyah and Hailey; brothers, David Watson and Timothy Watson; and sister, Delores Palmer. Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Todd Watson.
Funeral services will be 1 pm Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City with visitation starting at 12 pm. His grandson, Bobby Schnelker will be officiating. Burial will take place at Nolt Cemetery where he will be laid to rest beside Zelma.
