Linda Lou Maggard, age 76, of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 4:55 am on Monday June 26, 2023, at her residence. Born on April 26, 1947, in Wolf Lake, IN, she was the daughter of Thurman and Bonnie (Widner) Gawthrop.
Linda attended Columbia City High School. On November 23, 1968, she married Frank Maggard in Etna, IN. During her career, Linda worked for Weatherhead, Columbia City, The Alley, Washington Products, Columbia Plaza Laundromat, and for 20 years, at Drudge Products, Warsaw.
Linda was a former member of American Legion Post #98 and Fraternal Order of Eagles #1906, Columbia City. She enjoyed fishing, camping, knitting, selling Avon, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren in her free time.
Survivors include her husband Frank Maggard of Columbia City; son Jim (Judy) Vanderford of Columbia City; grandchildren Tabetha Granados-Vanderford of Fort Wayne and Trent Vanderford of Columbia City; great-grandchildren Sophia Vanderford, Gabriela Vanderford, Zacary Vanderford, and Alexander Vanderford; mother Bonnie Whittecar of Columbia City; niece Deanne (Rod) Blankenship of Leesburg; nephew Stoney Gawthrop of Columbia City; brothers-in-law Bob Maggard of Clarksville, TN and Sam (Ingrid) Maggard of Columbia City; sisters-in-law Margaret Cooper of California and Peggy Payne of Dayton, OH.
She was preceded in death by father Thurman Gawthrop, first husband James Vanderford, brother Eddie Gawthrop, and mother-in-law Lou Ranie Maggard.
Funeral services for Linda will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday June 30, 2023, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with calling from 3:00-6:00 pm prior to service.
Memorial contributions in memory of Linda may be made to American Diabetes Association or National Kidney Foundation.
