Martha Ann White Chilcote

Martha Ann White Chilcote, 90, of Columbia City, Ind., passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023.   Born April 21, 1933, in Fort Wayne, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Franklin and Ruth (Matthew) Wehnert.

She graduated from North Side High School, Fort Wayne and attended Fort Wayne Art College. On June 19, 1953, she married Richard D. White, who passed February 2, 1992, and on April 16, 2005, she married Merle Chilcote, who passed May 11, 2023.  She was a member of Big Lake Church of God, was past-president and very active in the Whitley County Art Guild.  Martha was also a member of the Eastern Star and was a founder of the Whitley County Autumn Art Festival.

She was featured on 21 Country for her stain glass designs.  Many of her designs were donated to Big Lake Church of God, Peabody Library and various other outreach organizations.  They are still displayed today.  Martha was the owner of Unique Impressions and she and her husband Richard traveled the country etching designs onto motorcycle windshields, painting murals and pin striping.  Along with her designing Martha raised her family and worked at Dana Corp. in Churubusco for 20 years.  She also loved the pets that she had over the years.

Martha is survived by her children, Deborah Warnat, Linda (John) Lepper, and Jim (Jacqueline) White; grandchildren, Matthew, Catherine, Justin, Joshua, Andrea, Steven and Teresa; 11 great grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Dave White; and brothers, Bobby, Ralph and Paul Wehnert.

Visitation will be 2:00 - 4:00 pm & 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will be 11:30 am Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Big Lake Church of God, Columbia City with calling one hour prior. Burial will take place at Christian Chapel Cemetery.
